DOTA and Stacraft 2

How do you guys feel about it? My main concern is the possibility that the custom scene in starcraft 2 will mirror the current state of Warcraft 3 where everyone just plays DOTA.

Well I think if SC2 was released today, it would be big because lots of people played the 1st one....for as long as I can remember.

I am pretty sure there will be a few good DotA maps for Starcraft 2. The whole thing that allows players to utilize third person view will make it very interesting. Though I don't think it will be very popular compared to the Warcraft III version and Heroes of Newerth.

I must agree with phandentium, with all the new things you can run in the map editor, including 3rd person view, I think DOTA will pretty much stay a WC3 relic.

It depends really, The only reason DOTA is the only custom being plyed right now is becuase it is essentially the best supported, best designed map for WCIII. there are thousands of amazing maps, but because WCIII is so old no one plays them anymore. When SCII gets out, you're gonna see a lot of remakes of some of the classic WCIII and SC maps, and newer ones. Whatever turns out to be the best SCII map will likely dominate like DOTa is a few years from now.

I just want my TD fix. It was awesome. To bad that there aren't that many standard "tower" models in Starcraft 2. Going to take a while before enough custom models are made.
