Graphics Engine?

Does anyone have any idea on what engine the game will be running on? I'm under the impressions that the game is getting a new engine considering the newest engine for Blizzard RPG's is the engine from WC3: TFT, which is 4 years old now.

Comments? Thoughts?

SC2 looks too Wc3 now. 3d is okay, but the graphics just really are looking too cartoony now.

Let's not forget that this in-game stuff is probably still beta testing and I'm sure they will improve upon the graphics as it comes along. I believe it looks better than WC3 because of the movement of the units, its more calm and less choppy and jumpy

Custom, rebuilt. It pretty much means the same thing. They're just saying custom because they haven't figured out a name for it yet. All the cool names have been taken for the famous stuff like, Havoc, and Source. Mind you, none of those are an engine used for RPG's.

No. They have stated that they built a brand new engine for SCII just like they had done for WCIII like 5 years ago.

the Game is still in pre-Alpha, which means it isn't even in the stage to test for those bugs, they are still adding and modifying code.

What do you think there going to name the engine. Better be something cool to go along with the fact that this game is going to be so over-hyped its not even going to be funny. Seriously.

No way Bret, the engine is going to be a one-word name, and its going to reflect nothing towards the game or anything close to it. Its gonna be called like, Phazer, or...Lazer. Or something with a "Z" in it. It's gotta have a "Z" in it, come on.
