A name that all gamers have either heard of or played for many years, Starcraft, is a game that will forever be remembered as one of Blizzard’s most famous works of art. Nearly a decade after its release, the game is still going strong in the international gaming community, especially in Korea, where it is a national sport.

After so many years of rumors and speculation of a sequel, and the creation and cancellation of a Starcraft FPS, the world waits in darkness for any light that may shine onto a new game that is Starcraft 2.

In the beginning of 2007, the rumor mill began to churn once more on a stage at HMV Oxford Street, London. With a few hopeful words from Mr. Bassat, ( Vice President Business Development and International for Blizzard Entertainment ), the gaming community buzzed with excitement!

As a Starcraft player I can tell you that I hope it wouldn't go a decade - we launched Starcraft in '98 - I hope it wouldn't go a decade before we stand here and celebrate the next Starcraft together.

Don't forget that we have two more franchises that we love - Diablo and Starcraft. It seemed that a few leaked words came out. Or did they? Did everyone read too deeply into his words? Hoping, praying for something…anything?
Months went on with nothing to hold but a few fleeting words. Once again, the gaming community was sitting alone in the dark.

On 07 March 2007, Blizzard announced its Worldwide Invitational.

We have just announced the 2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational, to be held in Seoul, South Korea on May 19 and 20. The event will be open to gamers of all ages and will be held at the Olympic Gymnastics and Fencing Stadiums in Seoul. Attendees will be able to watch some exciting tournaments, including invitational StarCraft and Warcraft III tournaments that pit some of Korea’s finest players against tough international challengers. Panel discussions hosted by Blizzard developers, and some hands-on attractions will also be available. Stay tuned for additional details on the 2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational, to be released in the coming weeks.

On 11 April 2007, IGN received a special scoop regarding SC 2. The dust was beginning to pick up! Sadly, many of the rumors were met with much skepticism. The claims were rather alarming, to say the least,

Rumor: StarCraft 2 Beta By Year's End?
A Korean site claims to have the scoop on a new race and the future of the original StarCraft. By Daemon Hatfield.
US, April 11, 2007 - Put on your skeptical goggles because rumors are swirling that StarCraft 2 is finally a reality. The Team Liquid forums have translated an article from Korean site Fighter Forum that says StarCraft 2 is on the way and a beta will be released at the end of 2007.
According to Fighter Forum, StarCraft 2 continues the story of the original and adds a new race based on Kerrigan, making a total of four races. While that wouldn't be totally off the mark, we figured the new race would be more the super-race mix between Zerg and Protoss rather than Zerg and Terran or at least the mystically advanced Xel'Naga. The three older tribes will each be receiving around two additional units.
The report also claims that Blizzard plans to shut down its original StarCraft servers in order to ensure the success of the sequel.
As popular as StarCraft was on these shores, it doesn't come close to the enthusiasm the game still enjoys in Asia, where televised, professional matches are held regularly. Blizzard has an event coming up in Korea where they are expected to make a large announcement, so it could very well be that the company has chosen the area where StarCraft is the most popular to announce its sequel.
As of this writing, Blizzard could not be reached for comment.

On 12 April 2007, Blizzard announced its own convention (BlizzCon)

A year and a half ago, Blizzard hosted the first "BlizzCon," a convention celebrating the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo game universes and the amazing community of players who contribute to their continued popularity. Today, Blizzard announced that BlizzCon will once again open its doors on August 3, 2007.
Highlights for this year's BlizzCon will include:
· Discussion panels with Blizzard game developers;
· Competitive and casual tournaments, including a World of Warcraft TCG tournament;
· Costume, machinima, and character sound-alike contests with great prizes;
· Live orchestral performances of music from Blizzard games;

On 25 April 2007, GosuGamers decided to spin the wheels of gossip at full speed!

According to a post at Thisisgame.com, Blizzard will announce the sequel for StarCraft in the home land of StarCraft: South Korea. The World Wide Invitational (WWI) is a Blizzard event where top gamers are invited to play Blizzard's games, and that's where the announcement is claimed to be.

Blizzard's strategy for announcing new games have traditionally been by surprising the crowd at one of the major game events. According to Thisisgame, over 100 international media partners have been invited to the World Wide Invitational, and to the possible announcement of a sequel.

This is a pretty straight-forward article of what’s going on. Blizzard Entertainment Korea really seems to have something being cooked up!

Back in 2001, when Nihilistic was still working on SC:G, there were several pieces of conception artwork.
There are 6 total pictures that have the signature of ‘f’ with the date of 08 01’.
2 of which are full color pictures.
2 that look like pen work on plain sheet paper.
And 2 that have pencil shading and notepad holes on the side or top.
1 of those pencil pieces of work could hold the all the answers.
