Producer Chris Sigaty of Blizzard gives you the first news on Starcraft II.

Forth race seems unlikely :( unless they are lying :O
It appears that they want to shorten the time they usually spend when developing games also.

If I recall rumors of fourth race are put to rest on the SC2 homepage.

I'd rather have 3 races and the game ready in a few years, than a fourth race and many, many years of balancing ahead.
I agree dude. Although I wouldn't mind a fourth race, like the Hybrids Duran was creating, or the Xel'Naga. However, from a die-hard fan point, I want them to stick with the three races only, updating some units, leaving others as they are, and adding a shit load of new ones. The Protoss Mother Ship looks awesome, but I want to see a Terran and Zerg counterpart to it. Each race should have a "Super Unit/Weapon" they can deploy at a HIGH cost of Minerals, Gas, and Supply. Though many would say that is close to being like C&C Generals and their Super Weapons. Personally, I LOVE having a Super Unit/Weapon I can deploy late game. Like in Age of Mythology: Titans, I love the Titan and using it to smash the shit out of my enemies. Though some might argue the Terran already have a super weapon because of the BC's Yamato Gun, I don't think of that tech as a super weapon because you can create a fleet of BCs with it. A super weapon should be just that, something you can only get ONE of and at a VERY high cost.

To be dreadfully honest, from a die-hard fan POV, I really DO want to see a hybrid race. NOW! Like it was mentioned before in the WC3 forums somewhere, some time ago, it doesn't have to be a complete race. Just like the Burning Legion it was SP only and wasn't a race. I would be complete OK with that if they did the same with SC2.

And like Tronga said, "WE'RE DOOMED" because its the lead WC3 desiner you KNOW damn well right that there are going to be a lot of the same concepts from WC3 intergrated into SC2. :faint:

You're a fool. Warcraft III was an amazing game. It revolutionized a concetp, ad is unique.

Obviously Starcraft and Warcraft III are both developed from teh same root, Warcraft II. They have branched off to become to different styles of RTS games. SCII is obviously a continuation of the original SC with little WCIII concepts involved, which is a little disappointment.
